Betsy Marie Key of Hillsville, VA, went to her heavenly home Friday, January 15, 2010. She was born November 23, 1963 in Surry County, North Carolina to James W. and Betty Wolfe Key. She was a 1986 graduate of St. Andrews Presbyterian College with a B.A. in English. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hillsville, VA, where she was the coordinator of the prayer ministry, co-teacher of the Young Adult Sunday School Class, and helped with the church newsletter and bulletin. She is survived by her mother, Betty W. Key, a sister and brother-in-law, Jamie and Albert Smith of Ararat, NC, two nieces and spouses, Valerie and Fred Alvarez of Converse, TX, and Sarah and Zack Hardy of Ararat, NC, and step-father, Charles Ridge of Hillsville, VA. She was preceded in death by her father, James W. Key, and sister, Lisa Ann Key.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, January 18, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Hillsville at 3:30 PM with Rev. Ty Harrison and Rev. Ronnie Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens, Mount Airy, NC. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Open Table of Hillsville or Souled Out Praise Band of First United Methodist Church, c/o First United Methodist Church of Hillsville, P.O. Box 356 Hillsville, VA 24343. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
