Bertha Lavoria Bryant Mabe, 96 of Austinville, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2011 at Trinity Mission of Hillsville. Mrs. Mabe was born in Carroll County, Virginia to the late William Thomas & Lilly Jennings Bryant. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Harry Lee Mabe, a daughter Velma Parnell. She is survived her children and their spouses Willard and Priscilla Mabe of Raleigh, NC, Noel and Elina Mabe of Alpharetta, GA, Wanda Mabe Marshall of Woodlawn, VA, Thomas M. and Jeanette Mabe of Woodlawn, VA, and Rachel Mabe of Roanoke, VA; son-in-law J.R. Parnell of Austinville; grandchildren Rebecca Mabe, Rita Mabe Lucas, Jeffrey and Colleen Mabe, Karen and Mike Triplett, Lana Kennedy, Alan Parnell, Tony and Janet Marshall, Timothy and Vicke Marshall, Terry and Sandy Marshall; Tammy Mabe Luper; great grandchildren Dori, Rachel and Hunter Lucas, Abby and Eli Mabe, Megan Kennedy, Destiny and Tyler Parnell, Jennifer and Gary Bowman, Hank and Bailey Marshall, Jessica and Branden Marshall, Melinda & Justin Lineberry; great-great grandchildren Maddox and Lyric Bowman; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 26, 2011 at Coulson Church of the Brethren at 2:00 PM with Pastor Russell Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the Coulson Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, June 25, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Mrs. Mabe will not lie in state on Sunday at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Coulson Church Building Fund 4127 Coulson Church Road, Hillsville, VA 24343.
