Belva Myers Edwards, 86, of Hillsville, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Twin County Regional Hospital. Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clyde Everett Edwards; parents, Louis Charles and Mollie Fowler Myers; and two sisters; Betty M. Gardner and Barbara Myers. Belva was extremely devoted to her husband. She and Clyde spent many years working and enjoying their farm. They created lasting memories with family, especially nieces and nephews. Mrs. Edwards was also a teacher and retired from Carroll County Public Schools after 42 years of service. Belva enjoyed a genuine passion for teaching. She wanted her students to learn not only the subject at hand, but also how to become better citizens of the community. Survivors include her sisters and brothers, Josephine M. Giles of Hillsville, Daisy L. Myers of Hillsville, Kenneth M. Myers and wife Carole of Troutville, Gene Myers and wife, Elizabeth of Woodlawn, and Patricia M. Phillips and husband Larry of Midlothian. A graveside service with burial following will be held on Monday, April 27, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Monta Vista Memory Gardens with Minister Roy Riley, Larry Phillips, and Gregory Myers officiating. The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel on Sunday, April 26, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
