Belva DeHaven Akers of Winston-Salem, NC, died Wednesday, August 8. She was born in Hillsville, Virginia to the late William Thomas and Mattie Lee DeHaven. She resided in Radford, Virginia before moving to Winston-Salem in 1984. She was a member of Tyler Memorial Presbyterian Church and Radford Presbyterian Church in Radford, Virginia, and Highland Presbyterian Church in Winston-Salem, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Guy Linford Akers; and sisters Ava Newman, Irma Adams and Artye Newman; brothers Foy DeHaven, Leonard DeHaven, and Tillman DeHaven. Belva is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Ann and Bob Reagan of Winston-Salem, NC; son Bill Akers of Blacksburg, Virginia; granddaughters Amy Eskridge and husband Matthew of Charleston, SC; Emily LeVasseur and husband Andrew of Richmond, Virginia; and great-grandchildren Winston and Ann Phillips Eskridge and Molly LeVasseur; and sister Mrs. John Fulcher of Hillsville, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 10:30 - 11:30 Friday, August 10, at Vaughan Guynn McGrady Funeral Home on Main Street in Hillsville. Graveside services will be at the Wilkinson Cemetery in Hillsville, Virginia. at noon on Friday, August 10.
