Basil M. Gallimore, 65 of Austinville, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at Twin County Regional Hospital. He was born in Floyd County, VA to Troy & Elizabeth Smith Gallimore. Mr. Gallimore served in the U.S. Army and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving from 1967 to 1969, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

Mr. Gallimore is survived by his wife Wanda Shupe Gallimore of the home; sons & daughters-in-law David & Rhonda Gallimore of Max Meadows, Randal & Tammy Gallimore of Austinville, and Sgt. Jason & Gwen Gallimore of Brandenburg, KY; five grandchildren Mark Gallimore, Katlyn Gallimore, Marissa Gallimore, Danielle Gallimore, and Jenna Gallimore; mother Elizabeth Gallimore of Indian Valley; brothers & sister-in-law Hiley Gallimore of Radford, Ramsey & Lucille Gallimore of Radford and Bruce Gallimore of Indian Valley; sister Phyllis Cox of Radford; and sister-in-law Lovelene Gallimore of Indian Valley.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 15, 2008 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Evangelist Jack King officiating. Burial will follow in the Shupe Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted at the graveside by the Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
