Barbara Smith Edwards, age 75 of Woodlawn, passed away November 6, 2022 at Northern Hospital. She was a 1965 graduate of Woodlawn High School and a 1975 graduate of Radford College. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmo and Oleta Rorrer Smith.

Barbara was a lifelong farmer, first with Dairy and later with Beef Cattle. She also worked several years for the Carroll County Public Schools, first as a teacher's aide and then as an elementary teacher. She was a member of Independence Missionary Baptist Church, Fancy Gap, VA.

Barbara is survived by her beloved fur babies that she called her "children" plus numerous cousins and friends. Her surviving first cousins are Linda Yeaple, California; Maxine Martin, Galax; Ann Castle-Balling, Maryland; L.A. Rorrer, Haymarket; Lois Jean Webb and Wanda Cock, Hillsville; plus a close second cousin Eric Johnson, Hillsville.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Pastor Tim Hawks officiating. Burial will follow in the Gardner Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM. Flowers are appreciated; however, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Barbara Edwards to the Isaac Banks Cemetery c/o Arthur Goad 648 Buffalo View Road, Hillsville, VA 24343 or to the charity of your choice. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
