Avaline Gloria Durkin, 95 of Fancy Gap, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at her home. Mrs. Durkin was born in Minnesota to the late Joseph and Esther Wanek Dozak. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M. Durkin; daughter, Victoria Starnes; and sister, Laurel Dozak.

Avaline was a member of the Columbia First Seventh Day Adventist Church in Lexington, SC.

Survivors include her son, Martin W. Durkin and wife, Faith of Fancy Gap; grandchildren, Robert M. Durkin and Adelaide, Amy Bernard and Ryan, Laura Durkin, and Daniel Starnes; and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the Southwest Virginia Veteran's Cemetery in Dublin with Pastor Dale Simpson officiating. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
