Ava Marie Rotenizer, 92, of Hillsville passed away on May 12, 2007 at the Golden Living Center of Blueridge in Galax. She was a retired merchant and faithful member of Pine Grove Primitive Baptist Church for 67 years. Marie had a love of singing, sewing and writing poetry. She was preceded in death by her husband Elder Ray Rotenizer and brother Thornton Robinson. She is survived by sons and daughter-in-law R. Eugene Rotenizer of Mt. Airy, NC, and N. Willis and Emmy Rotenizer of Galax; brothers and sisters-in-law Lonnie and Pauline Robinson of Hillsville, and Hawthorne and Veda Robinson of Woodlawn; sisters Nadine Stone of Hillsville, Imogene Allen of Dublin, and Mabel Earls of Welch, WV; a special friend Joyce Henderson, grandchildren David E. Rotenizer, Jeffrey W. Rotenizer, Brent N. Rotenizer, Anna Marie Burnette, and Julie R. Newman; great grandchildren Kelly J. Rotenizer, Abigail Burnette, Adam Burnette, Abrianna Burnette, Jacie Mae Newman, William Newman, and Noah Nathaniel Rotenizer, and great great grandchild Emma Paige Hill.

The funeral service will be on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at 2:00 PM at the Pine Grove Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Ronald Bowman and Elder Tim McGrady officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 14, 2007 from 6 to 8 PM at the church.
