Audrey Arnold
Burnett
June 3, 1935 – June 12, 2024
Audrey Arnold Burnett, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2024, in Hillsville, Virginia at the age of 89. Audrey's warm presence and caring nature left an undeniable mark on all who knew her. Audrey's love for her family, especially her husband, William L. (Red), was unparalleled, and she often expressed this through the time she spent with them, the love she had for them and the joy she found in life's simple pleasures with them. Her interests were as vibrant as her personality. Audrey taught high school English for many years, she loved the outdoors, gardening, bicycling, singing in the choir at church and most important, being the wife to Red and a mother to her children. He biggest love in life was her husband Red where they shared 68 beautiful years of marriage. As she quoted in her bridal book, "I guess our meeting was God's plan for our lives. It was truly love at first sight." Audrey's passing leaves a void in our hearts of those who knew her, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. Her laughter, her love of life, and her ability to make everyone feel cherished will be sorely missed but never forgotten.
Audrey is survived by her loving husband, Red Burnett, who was the love of her life. She also leaves behind two children, Alan (Donna) Burnett and Michelle (Tim) Hoffman. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rhonda (Dave) Foley. She was blessed with six grandchildren, Brandon (Michele) Cox, Courtney (Zach) Cohen, Brent (Kristen) Cox, Brooks (Jill) Burnett, Taylor Burnett and John Foley. She also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren, Claire and Nathan Cox, Ben, Gabe, Addison and Olivia Cohen and Ellie Cox. She also leaved behind two sisters, Hilda (Gordon) Fletcher and Trish Arnold. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, David (Sheila) Arnold and Phil (Anna) Arnold.
As we say goodbye to Audrey Arnold Burnett, we celebrate the life of a woman who was a beacon of kindness, love and strength. Her legacy is one of unwavering devotion to her family, a testament to the beautiful life she lived, and the countless lives she touched. Audrey's memory will be treasured forever, as we hold her close in our hearts and remember the light she brought to the world.
