Arvin Kenneth Quesinberry, 97 of Hillsville, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2016 at his home. Mr. Quesinberry was born in Carroll County to the late Samuel and Samarah Branscome Quesinberry. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Nina Belle Webb Quesinberry; brothers, Lincoln Quesinberry and Lawson Quesinberry; and sister, Goldie Newman.
Mr. Quesinberry was a 1938 graduate of Hillsville High School. He retired from the United States Navy as a Chief Petty Officer. After his retirement, Mr. Quesinberry worked for General Electric as a stock keeper. He was a life member of the Hillsville V.F.W. Grover King Post 1115 and Masonic Lodge #193 AF & AM.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Debbie Quesinberry of Hillsville; grandchildren, Samuel A. Quesinberry of Roanoke and Dr. Jennifer Quesinberry and husband, Jim Morris of Marion; step grandchildren, Ronnie Dalton and Sheena Austin; great grandchildren, Nicholas Steifel, Brittany Steifel, and Zachary Morris; and step great grandchildren, Jade Shaffer, Erica Shaffer, and Alea Austin.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 11:00 AM with Rev. Hebron Quesenberry officiating. Inurnment will follow in the John P. Webb Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Grover King Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM prior to the service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
