Arthur A. Farmer, 81, of Hillsville, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Waddell Nursing and Rehab Center. Mr. Farmer was born in Carroll County to the late Haskell and Phebe Shockley Farmer. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a sister Ethelleen Melton. Survivors include his wife Delsie N. Farmer son and daughter-in-law Marvin and Patsy Farmer; granddaughter and spouse Christina and Wayne Bedsaul of Hillsville; grandson and spouse Randall and Kendra Farmer all of Hillsville; great granddaughter Emily Burcham of Galax; great grandsons William Farmer and Austin Farmer; sister Nina Alderman of Hillsville; sisters-in-law and spouse Juanita Burnette, Almeta Frazier, and Rosella Lundy all of Galax, Guida Griffin of Canton, OH, Ethelene Bryant of Woodlawn, VA, Alpha Jean Newman of Wilmington, NC, and AnnaDean and Bobby Lovill of Mount Airy, NC; brothers-in-law and spouses Archie Newman, J.C. and Magalene Newman and Joe and Audrey Newman all of Woodlawn, Wallace and Geraldine Newman of Hickory, NC, and Wayne Newman of Mount Airy, NC; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 3:30 PM with Rev. Russell Payne and Rev. Harry Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in the John E. Farmer Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:30 until 3:30 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
