Arnold L. Hanks, 87, of Cana passed away on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Trinity Mission of Hillsville. He was preceded in death by his first wife Virginia Hanks; second wife June Hanks; grandson, Jesse Hanks Cox; step-son, Danny Rippey; two brothers, Roy Hanks, and Elmer Hanks; four sisters, Ethel Williams, Hazel Larrowe, Ella Farmer, and Mary Combs.

Survivors include his daughters, Marilyn Hanks, and Esther Hanks; granddaughters and spouses, Shana Kahila, Jeri and Doug Horton, and Rachel Rippey and Jason; grandsons and spouse, Hank and Elizabeth Seltzer, and William Seltzer; great grandsons, Jacob Oostdyk, Jake Lineberry, and Jaxon Horton; great granddaughter, Ayden Rippey; special friends, Earl Hawks, Pearl Bartlett, Rubye Bobbitt, Shirley Fields, and Charles Mortez. Also surviving are many friends, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of Trinity Mission Health and Rehab of Hillsville.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Forest Oak Christian Church 2261 Forest Oak Road Woodlawn, Virginia 24381.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Oakland United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the Hanks family.
