Archie Lee Midkiff, 77 of Hillsville, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at his home. Mr. Midkiff was born in Carroll County on March 3, 1941 to the late Emmett and Alta Horton Midkiff. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin infant brother, Dee Midkiff, brothers, Walton Midkiff and Gene Midkiff; and sisters, Margie Dunford, Faye Midkiff, and Joyce Cagle.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Darislean W. Midkiff of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Janice Midkiff of Dugspur and Rodney and Shannon Midkiff of Indian Valley; daughter, Selina Midkiff of Woodlawn; granddaughters, Keshia Stanley (Matt) of Fries, Kimberly Midkiff of Gastonia, NC and Paige Midkiff of Indian Valley; brothers, Thomas Midkiff and Wayne Midkiff; sisters, Bonnie Sumner and Brenda Midkiff; several nieces and nephews; best friend of 58 years, Dempsey Goad; and special fur baby, Rosebud.
Lee was a member of the Dugspur Rescue squad for approximately 30 years and served as Captain within that time frame. He was also a member of the Hillsville Volunteer Fire Department for 16 years and a member of the Carroll County Search and Rescue for 20 plus years.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Reverends S.G. Bolt, Roy Turpin, and Mike Wells officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The Hillsville Volunteer Fire Department Honor Guard will honor Mr. Midkiff during the services. Flowers are welcome; however, donations may be made to the Hillsville Volunteer Fire Department or the Carroll County Search and Rescue. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
