Archie Lester Goad, 86 of Bedford and Hillsville passed away Sunday, November 20, 2005 at the VA Medical Center in Salem. He was born June 16, 1919 at Fancy Gap to the late John A. & Octavia Webb Goad. He was preceded in death by his first wife Ila Worrell Cassell.

Archie was retired from the U.S. Navy with 22 years service as a Commissioned Officer and was a retired Executive of the Navy Reasle and Services System. He was a life member of VFW Post 1115, the Retired Officers Association as well as many other organizations.

Mr. Goad is survived by his wife Ethel Grant Goad of Bedford and Hillsville, step daughter Brenda Passaretti of Cookville, TN; step sons Randy T. Grant of Carthage TN and Bryant Grant of Lakeland, FL as well as a host of wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel. Elder Lewis Vass and Elder Ronald Bowman will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home prior to the services. Interment will follow in the Gladesboro Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by the Hillsville VFW Post 1115.
