Brown
April 14, 1924 – January 20, 2021
Archie D. Brown, 96 of Hillsville, went home to be with his heavenly father and his loved ones, on January 20, 2021. Mr. Brown was born in Gary, West Virginia on April 14 th , 1924 to the late Odell and Nora Mitchell Brown. He is also preceded by his wife, Dallas Taylor Brown of 75 wonderful years; brothers and sister-in-law, Paul Brown and John and Maggie Brown; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Mildred and Rush Webb, Helen and Kennard Dalton and Grace and Glen Gardner.
Archie was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Gilmer Allison; grandchildren and spouses, Malette and Dusty Pickett and Chad and Mary Allison; two special great-grandchildren, Jared Allison and Josie Allison all of Hillsville; and brother and sister-in-law, Horace and Peggy Brown.
Archie served his country proudly during World War II. He received a certificate of Merit throughout the battle of the bulge. Those successive operations brought us to the heart of Germany. His performance of duty has been exemplary of the highest traditions of his service. His loyalty and devotion to duty was at all times superior and outstanding. Signed Lt. Col Roy U. Clay. He has always known what the flag stands for and what it represents. Archie retired from Radford Army Ammunition Plant after 30 years of service.
Archie and Dallas loved and enjoyed their life together here on earth. They are now joined together in their heavenly home. Archie and Dallas were faithful and loyal members of Panther Creek Primitive Baptist Church where they have been members for more than 50 years. They served the church as deacon and deaconess for many years.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Panther Creek Primitive Baptist Church at 12:00 pm with Elders Richard Gillespie and Ronnie Mills officiating. Burial will follow in the Liberty Hill Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Grover King Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 11:00 until 12:00 prior to the funeral service. Due to the Covid pandemic, mask and social distancing will be required. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
