(Jones) Huff

Annie Delores (Jones) Huff, Age 86 of Dugspur, Virginia, peacefully passed away in her sleep on June 27, 2024. Ann was born on December 30, 1937 to John Henry and Sarah Frances (Frazier) Jones in Wythe County, Virginia. She graduated from Jackson Memorial High School in 1955. Ann attended Radford College and studied education.
In 1959, Ann married the love of her life, Dr. Arden Nelson Huff. Arden and Ann went on to have two children: Jane Huff Austin (Edwin Austin) and Jean Ann Huff Muse. Ann and Arden had many wonderful adventures together including living and working in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Bozeman, Montana; Blacksburg, Virginia; Knoxville, Tennessee; Richmond, Virginia; Gaithersburg, Maryland and finally in Dugspur, Virginia. They were married for 61 years.
In 1974, Ann and Arden built a beautiful home on their farm in Dugspur, Virginia. Ann worked as an administrative assistant at Carroll County High School and she was promoted to executive administrative assistant reporting to the Superintendent of Schools in Hillsville, Virginia, where she finished her career retiring from this position in 1992.
In retirement, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling and reading. She loved her extended family, and she was always there to help any of us. She traveled twice to Australia. Ann was active in numerous organizations including serving as Chairwoman of the Carroll County Farm Bureau women's committee and board member. With her leadership, the committee won numerous district and state awards. She also served two terms on the local Human Rights committee for the Mt. Rogers organization. She was a member of the Fort Chiswell Church of Christ.
Ann was predeceased by her husband, Arden Huff, her parents, three sisters and two brothers. She is survived by daughters, Jane Austin and Jean Ann Muse, sister Moyies Jones West, grandchildren Harrison Jake Muse, Mallory Pearl Smith, Morgan Elizabeth Sinding and Cooper Haywood Muse, great grandchildren Kairi Lynn Smith, Nolan Arden Sinding and Lily Mae Sinding as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Family, friends and traditions were very important to Ann, and she was actively involved in all our lives.
A graveside service for family will be held on Monday, July 8, at 10am at the Bethany Methodist Church in Austinville, Virginia with Steve Canup officiating. Condolences can be sent to Jean Ann Muse, 6452 Floyd Pike, Dugspur, Virginia 24325.
The family request no flowers, food items, nor donations be made and suggests that everyone express farewells and thoughts in their own way. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
