Annie Ruth Flippen, 75 of Fancy Gap, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Twin County Regional Hospital. She was preceded in death by a grandson T.J. Flippen. Mrs. Flippen is survived by her husband James M. Flippen of the home; daughter Deborah Sue Akers of Fancy Gap; sons & daughters-in-law Tony J. & Betty Flippen of Galax and Richard & Kimberly Flippen of Rural Retreat; brother Herman Felts of Laurel Fork; sister Eliza Speas of Cana; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Rev. Norman Goad & Rev. Eddie Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Laurel Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, March 14, 2009 from 7:00 until 9:00 PM.
