Andrew "Andy" Bowman, 70 of Hillsville, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at the Salem VA Medical Center. Andy was born in Carroll County to the late Daniel and Sarah Melton Bowman. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Lewis Bowman, James Bowman, and Jessie Bowman; and sisters, Mary Jane Brady and Inez Bowman.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline Bowman of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Rachel Bowman of Elliston; daughter, Cathy Bowman of Hillsville; brothers and sister-in-law, Lloyd Bowman and Luster and Gloria Bowman all of Laurel Fork; sisters, Mallie Tuggle of Fieldale and Ileta Billings of Galax; grandchildren, Lilly Bowman and Charlotte Bowman; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with burial following will be held at the Isaac Banks Cemetery on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at 2:00 PM with Chaplain Dennis Green officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Grover King Post 1115. The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel on Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Andy Bowman to the Salem VA Medical Center in care of Mary Beth Capuno or to the family at 126 Silverleaf Road, Hillsville, VA 24343. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
