Almarie Bunn Bowman, age 93, formerly of the Gladesboro Community of Laurel Fork passed away Friday, February 12, 2021 in Galax, Virginia.  Mrs. Bowman was born in Carroll County, Virginia on June 11, 1927 to the late Robert and Gertie Bolen Bunn.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by her husband Carroll Ernest Bowman; daughter Ramona Katherine (Kathy) Bowman Hill; sisters Lillian Davis, Imogene Rector and Wanda Jensen; brothers Clarence Bunn and Ruben Bunn.

Mrs. Bowman was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Hillsville VFW Post 1115. She was an avid quilter with her sister-in-law and best friend Opaline Bowman and other ladies of the Gladesboro community.   She was also a great cook.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Carroll Dean and Wanda P. Bowman of Hillsville; brother and sister-in-law Robert Jr. and Iva Lou Bunn also of Hillsville.  Six grandchildren Cynthia Marshall, Tamara Jones, Kevin Hill, Stacie Burnette, Patrick Bowman and G. W. Hill; ten great grandchildren: Dale, Corey, Caleb, Taylor, Abby, Lauryn, Parker, Sadydee, Shayla and Simon; six great-great grandchildren: Nicholas, Haley, Lexie, Carsen, Alexis and Brody.  Special caregivers Phyllis Simone, Diane Wiggins and Sheila Butcher also survive Mrs. Bowman.

The funeral service will be held Monday, February 15, 2021 at the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 11:00 AM with Pastor JoAnn Bunn officiating.  Burial will follow in the Gladesboro Cemetery.  There will be no public visitation at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Gladesboro Lutheran Church, 3486 Gladesboro Road, Hillsville, VA   24343 or the Ladies Auxiliary of the Hillsville VFW Post 1115.
