Alice Earlene Sumner, 57, of Laurel Fork, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Heritage Hall Laurel Meadows. Mrs. Sumner was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Sumner. Survivors include her parents, Earl and Lois Howlett of Fancy Gap; sister, Wilma Johnson of Hillsville; and aunt, Obeda Newman. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Mountain Plains United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM with Rev. Maria Grimm officiating. Mrs. Sumner will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Mountain Plains Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
