Alice Bryant Childress, 93, of Hillsville, VA. died Saturday, July 23, 2011. She was born August 30, 1917 to Laura Alice Elgin and Samuel John Bryant of Patrick County. She was predeceased by her parents; two sisters and four brothers; her husband, Conduff Green Childress; and son, William Bryant Childress. Surviving are sons, Conduff Green Childress Jr. and Samuel Robert Childress and his wife Billie. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was a member of Hillsville Presbyterian Church for 65 years, Allied Families of Patrick and Henry Counties, Alumni of Blue Ridge Mission School and Radford University. Mrs. Childress taught for many years at Hillsville Elementary School.

Funeral service will be at Hillsville Presbyterian Church, Hillsville Tuesday, July 26, 2011. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM followed by the service at 11:00 AM with Rev. Kevin Cambell officiating. Graveside service will follow at Buffalo Mountain Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Willis, VA.
