Alfred L. Shockley, 80, of Hillsville departed this life February 1st, 2012 to be with his daughter, Valerie Paige Shockley, his parents Rush and Rhoda Huff Shockley, his brothers Cecil Shockley and Ivan Shockley and his sisters Arlie S. Hurst and Callie S. Spence. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara Wright Shockley, his sons, Edward Shockley, Paul and his wife Marsha Shockley, and several nieces and nephews. The family will gather with friends and loved ones on Friday, February 3 from 6 - 8 pm at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home with a memorial service to celebrate the life of Alfred on Saturday, February 4th at 2pm at Dinwiddie Presbyterian Church. A private burial will follow at a later date. Alfred had requested that memorial gifts be made to Dinwiddie Presbyterian Church c/o Peggy Slate 1151 Hanging Tree Road, Hillsville, VA 24343. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
