Alfred Isaac Horton, 86, of Hillsville, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at his home. Mr. Horton was born in Carroll County to the late Luther and Elva Thomas Horton. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Lois Nester Horton and sister-in-law, Shirley Nester Bowman. Survivors include his son, Carlon O'Neil Horton; sister, Vernell Horton McCormick; sister-in-law, Louise Nester Cassell; brothers-in-law, Billy McCormick, Oleon Cassell, and Lloyd Bowman; nieces and nephews, Jean Cassell Jennings, David McCormick, Ronnie McCormick, Larry McCormick, and Danny Cassell; great nieces and nephews, Ashley McCormick Starkey, Holly McCormick, Michaela McCormick, Nathaniel McCormick, Joseph McCormick, Stephanie Edwards Perry, Adam Edwards, and Dustin Cassell; great great nieces, McKenzie Starkey and Audrey Perry; and many special friends. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rev. Wendell Horton officiating. Burial will follow in the Gladesboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
