Alene Melton, 84 of Hillsville, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2009 at Golden Living Center Blue Ridge. Mrs. Melton was born in Carroll County to the late Tilden & Dorothy Christley Vass. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Olen Melton. She is survived by her son Barry Wade of Hillsville; sister & brother-in-law Bessie & Paige Noonkester of Mount Airy, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Rev. David Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
