Alene Graveley Ayers , born December 11, 1927, of Hillsville, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2016. Mrs. Ayers was 88 years old.

She was preceded in death by her spouse, Elihu Juel (E.J.) Ayers; Father and Mother, William Harrison Graveley & Ethel Mae Woods Graveley; Sisters & Brother-in-law, Beulah & Talmadge Johnson, Geraldine Henley; Brothers Leonard Graveley and Landon Graveley.

Alene is survived by her children (and their spouses), Vera & Garnett Dalton; Alice Ayers; Terry & Claudette Ayers; Gary & Kathy Ayers; Brother-in-law, Charles Henley; 5 grandchildren, Kristen Puckett, Ginger Stike, Leigh Ann Ayers, Jessica Rash and Joshua Ayers; 7 great-grandchildren, Max, Jada and Mia Puckett; Stella and Calvin Stike, Noelle and Emelyn Rash; also many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Alene Ayers was a lifetime member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. Also Mrs. Ayers was a member of Disabled Veteran's and Ladies Auxillary of VFW Post 1115 in Hillsville, Virginia.

Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel of Hillsville, Virginia will be serving the family on Saturday, November 19, 2016. Family and friends visitation will be from 1 – 2 p.m. with the service starting at 2 p.m. Both visitation and service will be held at the funeral home in Hillsville. Burial and graveside will follow at Monta Vista Memorial Gardens in Galax, Virginia.

Officiating will be Reverend Gerald Humphrey, Reverend Stephen Puckett, and Reverend Dina Clower. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
