Virginia P. Staples, age 84, of Hillsville, member of Open Door Christian Church, went Home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 03, 2012. Mrs. Staples was born in Carroll County to the late Sexton and Iva Sumner Bond. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her first husband John Mark Phillips; son Ronald Mark Phillips; daughter Sherry Staples Bartlett; and two sisters Alma Ruth Weddle and Betty Myers.
She is survived by her husband Horace Staples of the home; daughters and sons-in-law Susan P. & Cellell Dalton of Wytheville, Yvonne P. and Wise Webb of Hillsville, daughter-in-law Carolyn P. Phillips of Hillsville, Pamela S. and Larry Piasecki of Vienna, Virginia, and Denise S. and Scot Davis of Wytheville; grandchildren Jill W. and Andrew Halverson of Winston Salem, NC, Pamela P. and Terry Ayers of Dobson, Robert and Melissa Dalton of Willis, Crystal and Kelly Cochran of Hillsville, Tracie P. and Rusty Cowan of Hillsville, Shon Mark and Rhonda Phillips of Ruther Glen, VA, Emily and Aaron Kline of Sanford, NC, Molly and Abbie Davis of Wytheville, Kyle Bartlett of Vienna; great grandchildren Lars and Wise Halverson, Kierstin Draughn, Kole Ayers, Blake Dalton, Braden Dalton, Airika Phillips, Zachary Cochran, Lexie and Landon Phillips, Summer Rorrer, Tesla, Devin, and Ethan Cowan; and two sisters Dorothy Wyrick and Wilma Howlett both of Hillsville.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rev. Michael Goode and Rev. Roy Riley officiating. Burial will follow in the Surratt Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, April 8, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
