Esther Mae Ayers Hendrick, 86 of Pulaski, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at Montgomery Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness. Esther was born in Carroll County to the late Ownie Hiatt Ayers & Clarence Alva Ayers. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hendrick was also preceded in death by her first husband Howard E. Dawson; sisters Hassie Ayers, Cassie Hiatt, Gladys Willis, and Lassie Fleming; and brothers Elmer Buck Ayers, Wayne Ayers, Bobby Ayers, and Hosten Ayers. She is survived by her husband of 58 years Fred Ersal Hendrick; daughter & son-in-law Maetta & Trent Crewe; sons & daughters-in-law Lansford & Gail Dawson and Roger & Brenda Dawson; seven grandchildren Tanya Brown, Beth Johnson, Greg Canevari, Scott Dawson, Tim Dawson, Chris Newman, and Tyler Crewe; eight great grandchildren Tiffany Brown, Austin Brown, Brock Dawson, Haley Dawson, Hannah Dawson, Jeremy Cox, Abigail Canevari, and Isabella Canevari; brother & sister-in-law Jim & Nell Ayers; sisters Lucy Hendrick and Thelma Ayers; many nieces and nephews; special caregivers Angie Worrell, Jeanette Turner, Susan Cook, the staff of Orchard Hills, and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 1:00 PM with Rev. John Collins and Rev. Ted Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the Bluemont Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday one hour prior to the service.
