Mrs. Sheila Diane Dalton, 75, of Laurel Fork, VA passed away peacefully at her home with her family and loyal companion, Dalton, by her side on February 28, 2026.  She was born on October 28, 1950 in Patrick County to the late Elijah "Buck" Turman and Ava Nester Turman.  She was a loving wife, mother and Nannie and will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 56 years, James Dail Dalton of the home; daughter Michelle Dalton Leonard-Overby (Andrew) of Ararat; grandchildren Easton Leonard, Lance and Alyssa Overby; brother J.L. Cox (Beryl) of Laurel Fork, sisters Joyce Goad of Hillsville, and Bonnie Goad of Laurel Fork, and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Diane was preceded in death by her sister Jerlene Ferguson; and brothers-in-law Jimmy Goad and Freamo Goad.

She was a long-time member of Tory Creek Baptist Church of Meadows of Dan, VA.  Diane's world revolved around her grandson, Easton, who helped to care for her over the last months of her life.  The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for their compassion, care and support.

A celebration of life will be held Thursday, March 5 at 4PM at Vaughn-Guynn-McGrady Chapel in Hillsville, with Pastor Lonnie Hylton officiating.  The family will receive friends from 2PM until the time of the service.  A private burial service will be held at a later date. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
